Dolls for Niece. HELP PLEASE!?

When I was younger my Aunt would get me all these antique porcelain Wizard of Oz dolls/collectibles. I now have a neice and would like to start that same tradition but I don’t want to give her wizard of oz because thats not her time..ya know? && I don’t even know where to start.. I just need a theme and possibly a website… any ideas?? I’d really appreciate them.

As far as dolls go, American Girl does have the most options in clothing and accessories, including furniture, for future giving. They are large, however, and an extensive collection will take up space and perhaps not be appealing to a teenager later on.
If you want a collection of dolls and related memorabilia that will hold her interest for years to come, pick a theme that reflects an interest you would like to share with you niece. Ballet? Theatre? Dance? Music? Camping? Sports? Or, even the Wizard of Oz!
The Frank L. Baum ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L._Frank_Baum ) books are marvelous, as is the Judy Garland movie of the Wizard of Oz. (There are 17 Oz books by Baum!) Check out amazon.com for books, vintage and otherwise.
I have a collection of ballerina Barbies from Mattel’s Barbie Classic Ballet Series and related ballet items.

Ebay is a great source for just about everything under the sun, especially vintage or discontinued items. I filled in my Barbie ballet collection with MIB dolls at prices a third of the original prices!
