Waldorf Doll Clothes

sewing questions re: sewing stretchy and not so stretchy fabrics together with round corners?

I am SUPER new to sewing, but I am attempting to make a waldorf style doll. I am having issues making the clothes for it because what I want requires sewing in an “insert” of one type of fabric ( not very stretchy) to the main fabric ( which has more stretch). Think of it like a bunny or teddy’s tummy where it might have white oval in the middle of the tummy area …. how can I insert/sew this without it getting all bunchy? I tried and it came out lopsided…. and didn’t join up at the top.

Use the stay stitching method – it is the easiest and works the best.
