Baby Room Ideas – Decorating Ideas for Your Nursery
Baby room ideas are one of the first things parents mull over with a little one on the way. The arrival of a new baby in the family is always a source of excitement and parents want to ensure that they welcome their new angel properly and have all of his or her needs ready before he or she comes.
The nursery or baby room is something that you should put a lot of consideration into, as it is where your baby will spend most of his or her time in. You have to make sure that it is not only comfortable for your baby but that it is aesthetically appealing as well.
Things to Keep in Mind in Preparing the Nursery
The nursery should have a happy and pleasant atmosphere. It is also better if both parents can take part in decorating and preparing the baby room. This allows them to form a bond with their child even before the child is born.
Here are some things you should remember to ensure that all of your baby’s needs are taken care of:
• Choose a quiet room. If external noise is hard to avoid, then you can make the room soundproof.
• Do not choose a room that’s so remote that you won’t hear your baby’s voice. However, if this cannot be helped, then install baby-monitoring devices.
• Make sure that the room you choose is bright and spacious. Also, make sure that it has a window where light can enter.
• A room with at least two windows is preferred to ensure the continuous circulation of fresh air.
• Install screens on the windows to keep insects and bugs away.
• Install curtains and shades to dim the room when your baby takes a nap.
• If the baby nursery room is not that big, don’t cram it with too many toys and furniture.
• Make sure that you have ample storage space for your child’s toys. Try to have some cupboards or drawers in the room.
• Make sure to cover all sharp edges with a foam or rubber-like material.
• Cover the floor with a thick mat and be sure to regularly vacuum it.
• Position the baby crib in an area where there is enough sunlight and circulation.
Baby Room Ideas for the Paint
Try to use bright colors for your baby’s room. Pink is the usual color of choice for baby girl rooms. You can install pink curtains, pink-colored furniture, and pink toys. For boys, setting everything in blue is quite ideal. However, if you opt to go for something neutral – if you’re unsure of your baby’s gender or are expecting twins – then you may use a combination of pink and brown or yellow and orange.
You can also opt to paint a theme or cartoon pictures on the wall. For a dramatic effect, you might even want to paint a mural.
Baby Room Themes
Setting a theme for the nursery is a good idea. It’s not only creative; it’s also educational for the baby. Some of the themes you might want to implement include cartoon series, nursery rhymes, storybooks, and fairy tales among others.
Below are some themes to give you more nursery decorating ideas:
• A vintage baby room theme to help your child gain awareness of his or her parentage or bloodline. Here, you can put some vintage style furniture in the room.
• A jungle theme allows your baby to wake up to the beauty of nature. You can paint the walls with animals and trees or install a wallpaper with beautiful sceneries.
• A celebrity theme where you can decorate your child’s nursery to look like a Hollywood star’s room.
• A theme with mirror images for twins.
• A room with teddy bear and doll sets for a baby girl’s room.
• A sports theme for a baby boy’s room.
• An ocean or space research theme for either girls or boys.
In the end, how the nursery is set up depends on the parents’ personality, taste, and creativity. But whatever baby nursery décor or theme you choose to implement, just make sure that your baby room ideas always include your baby’s safety and comfort as considerations.
