Why a Rechargeable Vibrator is the Only Adult Toy You Need
Everyone likes their vibrators and there’s no doubt about that, but the evolution of a wired toy to a rechargeable vibrator is an amazing path in the adult toy world. The very first vibrator was certainly not a rechargeable vibrator. It was, instead, a steam powered and cumbersome device and designed to treat hysteria in female patients. This was done for years, manually, by nurses and doctors in medical facilities by hand. Complaints were issued that hands and wrists were getting sore so the vibrator was invented.
This was way back in the Victorian Era, during the 1800s. By 1900 there were electromagnetic vibrators, but even at this point they weren’t considered anything like an adult toy. They were still tools to treat patients, and generally female patients. Still far off from the amazing rechargeable vibrators we have today. By the 1970s the adult toy industry had made vibrators that could be plugged into a wall outlet and used until the motor died, but these were still somewhat cumbersome as it was difficult to not get caught up in the wires.
Eventually, but still not quite to the realm of the rechargeable vibrators we have today, the adult toy industry started to make vibrators that were battery operated. The battery operated toys were leaps and bounds better to use and play with than their predecessors. At this point in our history, women weren’t getting treated for “hysteria” with masturbation and “pelvic massages”. No, at this point, women were using vibrators by themselves and with their partners in order to achieve orgasms that they either weren’t getting, or weren’t getting enough of with their lovers. Battery operated vibrators had their issues too, though.
Batteries of this era were prone to dying fairly quickly when being used to run the motors that make these adult toys vibrate. Eventually, batteries got better and began to last slightly longer – for things like your remotes, electric toothbrushes, and other low powered items. Anything that requires any more juice, or to last longer, is going to require more and more power so you don’t get interrupted. We almost had rechargeable vibrators, sort of, upon the invention and marketing of rechargeable batteries. The issue with these is that you still need to do a battery change in order to recharge your toy – something that can take a while.
Rechargeable vibrators, on the other hand, use batteries like those that we now have in our cellular phones and are generally lithium ion batteries. What this means for the adult toy industry is that more and more mostly wireless toys are coming out on the market. You get the best of both worlds – battery operated and wired. Some of these rechargeable vibrators have docks, but a lot of them have the same simple system as your cell phone – a wall charger. You get versatility and nearly uninterrupted use when the battery is low, plus a long, long battery life.
