Furniture For Small Spaces

Does anyone know any tips on designing a small room with big furniture?

My room is 11ft 7in x 10ft 7in. It’s pretty small and i have a bed, a dresser, a desk, and a nightstand. All of these things are BIG. My mom wont let me take any of the furniture out of my room because we have no space for it, so i have to keep everything i have in there. I can’t figure out where to put everything. I’m going crazy rearanging all my furniture all the time because i am just never satisfied with how it looks. Does anyone have any tips on what i can do?

I had a very small room and BIG and a lot of furniture too. Also the paint on my walls were a dark color. I found that painting all the walls white really seemed to make the room appear larger.

If you can’t get rid or sell any of the furniture, just keep it all.

Try putting the bed and nightstand side by side on one wall (center the bed in front of a window if you have to), and if you have the tall dresser (aka chest of drawers) you can always center it in the corner or you can even do that to the desk.

With the layout of my old room, I had my tall dresser in a corner next to my door. The door was across from my bed. I had my bed in the center the wall with the nightstand on one side (almost in the corner) and had my desk on the other side of the bed positioned in the corner just like the dresser. Then I had my long dresser with the mirror on it positioned on a wall by itself next to my closet door.

Just try playing around with your furniture until you find something that works. There are a few free room layout sites that you can input the size of your room and play around with furniture instead of actually moving it around. Below is one source. You can probably goodsearch or google another one that’s just as good.
