Why won’t this old Windows PC game work?

I recently found all my games from when I was a little girl. The game is by Fisher-Price and is called Dream Dollhouse and under the title it says Where Dreams Come To Life. The year of it is 1995 and it runs on Windows. I have windows vista and for some reason the download won’t work…but last night I managed to download Madeline which works on Windows 98, 95, and 3.1 and is from 1999 and it worked just fine. Why won’t this game work? I really want to play it, it was my favorite game.

Try to run it in compatibility mode for Win98.

right-click the executable, under Compatibility – check the box and select Win98.
No guarantee but older games tend to try to grab control of the hardware which
will fail under Vista and XP.
