How can I easily clean out my cabinet without being overwhelmed?

How can I easily and effectively clean out my bedroom cabinet without being overwhelmed? I have a cabinet in my room filled with junk. It’s filled with blankets, books, notebooks, pens, dolls, plastic toys, needlepoint things, fabric, posters, jewelry, lotions, nail polish, towels, index cards, cords, boxes, and other stuff. How can I easily, effectively, and neatly clean it all out and organize it without being overwhelmed by the mess? It is a huge cabinet with many shelves, built-in to my wall. Please help!

Bring in some boxes and a trashcan. Make an area of the room, like on the bed, the area you will put things you want to keep. The boxes are for things that you don’t use, but are in good enough shape to donate. The trashcan is, of course, for trash; dried up lotion, broken toys, etc. As you pull each item out of the cabinet, decide which category it should go in. Since the cabinet is so big, maybe you should only tackle a section of it at a time and give yourself a few days to complete the project. Once you have gone through all the things in that section, you can put back the stuff you are keeping and toss out the rubbish. After you have cleaned out the whole cabinet, you can then reorganize it so that you can easily find everything. This will be much easier than trying to sort and organize all at the same time.
