Toy Fair Arrives at Birmingham’s Nec Arena

The Toy Collectors Fair provides the public with a unique chance to pick up some rare toys either for their collections or just to have fun with. A regular event that stops at conference centres throughout the country, it returns to Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre on May 4th 2008. Entrance is free for children under 16 and £5.50 for adults, and the event is open from 10.30am – 4pm. However, early entry is available for a fee of £20, which allows the most eager collectors to gain access to the event from 7.30am.

There are 650 tables at the event, which will be manned by some of the best dealers from the toy and model collecting worlds. You’ll be able to buy some great collectables old and new, including Matchbox, Scalextric, soldiers, figures, Dinky, Corgi, Lledo, TV Related merchandise from shows such as Batman or Starsky and Hutch, Sci-Fi toys and memorabilia, Star Wars collectables, model railways, Action Man, Beanie Babies, dolls, teddy bears, Buses, boats, farm animals and tractors, McDonalds happy meal toys, planes, display cabinets, books, videos, Disneyrama, and more.

As always, the Toy Collectors Fair is organised by the highly respected DJ Fairs. The idea for DJ Fairs began over 30 years ago when Dave Jowett started one of the first ‘Swapmeets’ in a local pub in the village of Lambley, which is near Nottingham. Back then, fellow collectors would meet and exchange their collectables without any money changing hands. The Swapmeet was incredibly successful and grew in size until it became the Toy Collectors Fair that we know and love today. Since then, the Fair has been held in numerous venues in Nottingham, as well as throughout the rest of the country. Some of the places that the Toy Collectors Fair will be calling at this year are Doncaster Racecourse, Exeter Westpoint, Donnington Park, and the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

The Birmingham event is held in the brand-new Hall 18 of the National Exhibition Centre. You’ll find free parking and some great facilities for traders and visitors alike there.
