1. How has being an archipelago influence Japans relations with other East Asian countiries?
2.Dicuss the relationship between Japan and China prior to the 17th century.
3. Discuss the relationship between Japan and the rest of the world from the early 17th century to just prior to the Meiji restoration (1867)
i dont know about the last two but being an island made japan the one to be the least modernised (?) until they shut of all the doors the other countries. this is because cultures were passed on from china to the korean peninsula and then to japan so japan used to be the “developing country” than being the “developed country” (hmm… now its the other way around). and when they had wars with other countries, being an island was an advantage to them because they usually had it at sea so they didn’t lose land and had their farms burn as much.
and i heard that there were many pirates too.
oh ya for question 3, japan had a big war with korea around late 16th century to early 17th century
i hope tht didn’t sound to biased because i only learnt korean history and wrote down the little i learnt about japan in korea’s history.
