I was 10 yrs old I guess, and had wanted a Barbie townhouse more than anything! Remember those? They had the Elevator that you pulled with a string to raise up and down, and had three floors for Barbie’s pleasure, lol!

Anyway, Christmas came and I got lots of presents, but no townhouse. I was a little disappointed, but didn’t fuss. Well, a little later in the morning my parents asked me to go feed the dog in the backyard. I complained a bit, but went anyway, and on my way back inside caught sight of a clubhouse in the driveway. I was so excited! When I opened the door to go in, there inside, propped up against the wall, stood the Barbie townhouse.

I’ll never forget the joy I felt and how giddy my parents were at having pleased me with their surprise.
