18 Inch Doll Accessories
toy model figurine scale?
hi i was just starting to build up a collection of both anime and military model figurines. much to my happy surprise most of them at approximately 6-8 inches tall.
i want to buy some accessories for them like weapons ie guns which i did on ebay. they are in transit right now but i just found out they are 1:6 scale weapons for “12 inch ken-barbie type dolls”
so wont’ these 1:6 scale weapons be to large for my 6-8 inch figurines to carry?
so i ask:
what scale (ie 1:6, 1:18, 1:24) is a 6inch figure?
what scale of accessories do i SHOULD use for a 6 inch figurine
and what scales that are a bit off in aspect ratio but are still usable?
Are you making the 6″ figure part of the 8″ figure’s world? If so, and the 8″ figure represents a 6′0″ [72"] character, their shared scale would be 1:9. At 1:9, your 6″ figure would represent a scale 4′6″ [54"] character and 1:9 would work for all of them, just assuming (s)he is a short character.
If you decided to go with 1:10 accessories, your 8″ figure would look like (s)he is 6′8″ [80"] and for 6″, it would be 5′0″ [60"]
The formula would be:
Character height (in inches)/figure height (in inches) = scale ratio (written like 1:[scale ratio])
If your 6″ figure represents a 6′0″ [72"] character,
72/6 = 12, written 1:12
As you can see, the scale you use really depends on how tall you imagine your characters to be.
